Galloway Seeds Ltd. — Quality Seed Since 1946

Farming is not just our business — it's our way of life

Four generations of the same family, growing certified pedigreed seed on the same land near Fort Saskatchewan.

Built by farmers, since 1946

Since 1946, Galloway Seeds has been built by farmers who understand the value of good seed, hard work, honest relationships, and doing things properly. Farming is not just our business — it is our way of life. Based in Alberta and serving farms across Western Canada, we believe strong crops begin with quality pedigreed seed.

That is why we take great care in every step of the process. From seed selection, seeding, and harvest to seed cleaning, grading, testing, treating, and handling, we maintain high standards to ensure farmers receive seed with the purity, quality, and performance they can trust. We continue to invest in training, technology, equipment, and research because we believe agriculture must keep moving forward for the next generation.

What sets us apart is simple: we farm what we sell, we stand behind our seed, and we genuinely care about helping farms and the agricultural industry succeed.

How it all started

The roots of Galloway Seeds go back to 1908 and a family farm south of Fort Saskatchewan — and a commitment that has never changed.

1908

The Galloways arrive from Ontario

John and Sarah Galloway move their family of five boys and two girls to a farm south of Fort Saskatchewan. Farming quickly becomes the family's way of life.

1920s

Percy grows the first pedigreed seed

Percy Galloway establishes his own farm northeast of the present yard and produces pedigreed seed through the 1920s and 30s.

1946

Galloway Brothers is founded

Percy's sons Lloyd and Ken establish a full-time pedigreed seed production, processing, and retail business — when every bag was sealed by government inspectors.

1961

A new seed plant on the present yard

After years of cleaning grain in the old facility, a new seed plant is built on the current Galloway Seeds yard site, as bulk certified seed comes into being.

1984

Galloway Seeds Ltd. is established

Jim and Peter Galloway grow the business — adding an office, a full-length truck scale, and new infrastructure, and becoming a trusted name with local farmers.

2011

The next generation joins

Erin and Dan join the operation, working alongside Jim and Deb in the day-to-day running of the business.

2018

A modern, CSI-registered cleaning plant

A dedicated Registered Seed Cleaning Plant is built, giving the team direct control over every stage of the cleaning process.
